MIT Sloan’s 2nd annual Business in Gaming Conference
March 2, 2010
MIT Sloan School of Management‘s Business in Gaming Conference (BiG) was a great success last year with notable speakers 2K Boston’s Ken Levine of “Bioshock” fame and Curt Schilling, former Red Sox pitcher and current Founder and Chairman of 38 Studios. The plan for this year’s BiG conference is to be even better. Keynoting the 2nd annual BiG Conference will be Gordon Walton, MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) pioneer and current Co-Studio Director of BioWare – Austin. One of Gordon and BioWare’s current projects is the hotly anticipated “Star Wars: The Old Republic” MMORPG.
This year’s event will be held on Friday, April 16th 2010 from 8am-5pm at the Microsoft New England Research and Development (NERD) Center in Cambridge, MA. This conference is unique in that it focuses on the business side of the video game world. It will bring together industry leaders, game developers, game designers, academics, and students from leading MBA schools and will facilitate discussions of the latest business trends and future direction of the video game industry.
The BiG conference theme “Competing on Analytics,” will cover a wide scope of issues and will give our attendees much to discuss throughout our daylong conference.
Some of this year’s panel discussions include “Social Gaming,” “How to Build and Finance a Gaming Start-up,” and “The Next Big Thing in Gaming.”
Much planning is under way and more information will be made available soon.
Attendee Registration opens on Friday, March 12th at 9am, so please mark your calendars.
